Spruce or pine
Spruce or pine
Both spruce and pine are coniferous trees and have a relatively high resin content. They are therefore suitable for use in dwellings where the temperature is not very high. Spruce has small branches, which can be irregularly spaced throughout the board. Spruce is lighter and over time acquires a uniform yellowish complexion. Pine has larger branches that are evenly spaced. Sunlight makes the pine sparkle, whereby the it can acquire both yellowish and reddish-brown tones.
A pine board is characterized by heartwood that becomes reddish over time, a spruce board is lighter. In other respects, however, pine and spruce are quite similar.
